The project will establish the first large-scale network in Central Europe to employ Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), a technology for generating and distributing cryptographic keys resistant to future quantum computer attacks.

The initiative reinforces cybersecurity in the region, ensuring safe communication between:

  • public institutions
  • critical infrastructure operators
  • scientists
  • data centres.

The project is part of the EuroQCI strategy, which aims to build a secure quantum digital communication network in Europe.

OPI PIB’s role

OPI PIB contributes to technical and organisational tasks and co‑develops information and promotional activities under Work Package 5 (Dissemination, Impact and Exploitation).
