The National Information Processing Institute (OPI PIB) is a scientific partner of the Multidisciplinary Research Centre project led by Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University (UKSW) in Warsaw, in which a unique digital science research centre is being established. The primary role of the centre is to develop and implement innovative digital solutions that strengthen the Polish economy and support public authorities in accomplishing their goals pertaining to the digital transformation.

The centre will also serve as a focal point for the development teams of associated innovative firms that closely collaborate with the centre’s scientific groups.

The centre focuses on application issues; this is reflected both in its structure and in the scope of its activities.  Modern infrastructure that is adapted to the needs of advanced technology will enable innovative research and world class scientific and development works to be conducted. The centre is being established in response to growing demand for information and communication technologies in all fields of research—including the social sciences and the humanities. The project meets the needs and expectations of today’s research and business communities.

At present, no centre in Poland brings together experts in data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, medicine, technology, the humanities, and the natural and social sciences.

The establishment of an interdisciplinary centre enables the preparation of a unique interdisciplinary research offer that addresses the needs of the science and business sectors more efficiently. This will enhance the research capacities of UKSW and the other consortium members.
