The AI Researcher project aims to support academic supervisors and early career researchers in European higher education institutions to integrate AI into research confidently and responsibly by providing practical training based on existing EU guidelines and frameworks, including Trustworthy AI, the Guidelines on the responsible use of generative AI in research, and the European Competence Framework for Researchers. The training sessions are designed to translate these policies into actionable skills and resources, ensuring that AI is used ethically and effectively as a credible research tool.
In addition to training, the project will prepare guidance materials for supervisors, deliver thematic interactive workshops, outline an AI researcher’s roadmap, and offer a certified online course and microqualification programme to help young researchers build competencies in responsible AI for research.
The beneficiaries of the project’s education initiatives include master’s students, doctoral students, early stage researchers, academic supervisors, and university managers and decision-makers that are responsible for research and digital transformation.
The AI Researcher project is conducted as part of Erasmus+ Action 2 , which promotes collaboration between higher education institutions for innovation and best practice sharing.
