The main objective of Science4Business is to increase the effectiveness of technology transfer centres (TTCs) and special purpose vehicles of research organisations in their collaboration with business. The support that the project offers to research organisations will lead to the effective implementation of their solutions in the Polish economy. It involves mapping the potential of the research organisations, preparing and marketing their research and technology, and conducting preimplementation work for the technologies they develop. Science4Business will also provide training to staff involved in the commercialisation of research results. A key tool of communication between science and business will be a new innovation portal designed for the business community, where the products and services of every research institution in Poland will be presented. OPI PIB is responsible for the development of the new portal.

The project involves three tasks, each of which will be implemented by different partners:

Task 1 Development Incubator – Initiating cooperation between the scientific and business communities, implemented by research organisations that conduct activities related to the commercialisation of their R&D work

Task 2 Technology Transfer Staff – Conducting a series of specialist training sessions for employees of research organisations involved in commercialisation processes, implemented by the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR).

Task 3 Innovation portal – Creating a portal with a database of technology, services, and infrastructure offered by Polish science institutions, which will enable businesses to establish relationships with innovation brokers that operate in research organisations. This task will be implemented by OPI PIB.

The innovation portal will be publicly available, and the project partners will be obliged to post their offers on it and update them regularly, including during projects’ lifetimes. Based on the information collected on the portal, an application will be created as a tool for innovation brokers to use. It will facilitate searches and combine offers from various units to tailor the searches to the specific needs of businesses. The innovation portal will also offer training courses for staff involved in technology transfer, developed as part of Task 2.

Task 3, which will be implemented by OPI PIB, covers the following activities:

1. Development of the innovation portal concept, including:

a) a comprehensive database of technologies and services

b) a communication platform

c) a database of research organisations

d) an advanced search tool

e) a database of training courses and events

f) best practices and case studies

2. IT development work related to the implementation of the innovation portal

3. Technical support and user assistance

4. Promotion of the innovation portal on social media and search engines

The cost of Task 3 is 3,747,672 PLN.

The Science4Business project is funded fully by the European Union under the European Funds for Smart Economy programme 2021-2027.
