The Gaia AI Factory project seeks to expand supercomputing infrastructure, facilitate access to big data, and foster AI competencies through training sessions, advisory services, and talent programmes.

The Polish AI Factory is to serve as a national centre of excellence, offering cutting-edge infrastructure for advanced AI-related tasks. The infrastructure will feature a new AI-optimised supercomputer that enables training, testing, and deployment of large-scale models. Equipped with over a thousand GPUs, the system will offer several times the computing power of the existing Helios system. Similarly to Helios, it will be located in Cracow, managed by the Cyfronet Academic Computer Centre of the AGH University of Krakow (ACK Cyfronet AGH), and integrated with the PLGrid infrastructure.

Gaia AI Factory will also serve as a collaboration platform for academia, business, and the public sector, offering tools that support the entire AI project lifecycle—from data preparation to model deployment. The initiative will accelerate innovation in healthcare, space, public administration, education, environmental monitoring, and AI-based products and services.

Led by ACK Cyfronet AGH, the Gaia AI Factory consortium closely collaborates with the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education, the Polish Ministry of Digital Affairs, the Polish Ministry of Finance, and the Polish Ministry of Economic Development and Technology. Poland’s contribution to the project is funded by the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Polish Ministry of Digital Affairs.

Funding

The acquisition and operation costs of the AI-optimised EuroHPC supercomputer are shared between the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking under the European Union’s Digital Europe programme and Poland.

Total project value: EUR 12,500,000
OPI PIB’s share in the project budget: EUR 750,000

["post-34813","opi_project","type-opi_project","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry
["GET
