      Project objective<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The project supports research and development work that aims to define the technical and formal conditions for deploying an edge node system in Poland that meets the requirements set out in Decision (EU) 2022\/2481 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 December 2022 establishing the Digital Decade Policy Programme 2030.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The scope of work includes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        \n
      1. The development of a preliminary edge node system design, including a review and selection of available transmission technologies between edge nodes, consultations with application providers and telecom operators in Poland, and the selection of node locations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. Based on the preliminary design, the drafting of technical requirements for network and computing infrastructure, and the implementation of procurement procedures for suppliers of the required infrastructure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      3. The selection of applications and their adaptation to operate in the edge node infrastructure, as well as the development and implementation of algorithms for selecting the optimal edge node.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      4. Pilot implementation: by providing end users with a prototype edge node network that measures network quality in 32 locations, including service delivery for public administration in six of them.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      5. The preparation of a report that defines the technical and formal conditions necessary to deploy an edge node system in Poland.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        Funding<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        The EdgePL: A pilot Implementation of an edge node system in Poland project was established by the Polish Minister of Science and Higher Education under Article 376(1) and (2)(2) of the Act of 20 July 2018 \u2013 Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2024, item 1571, as amended).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
